About the Speaker:
Tracey J. Hyde, Esquire
Board Certified in Workers' Compensation
McConnaughhay, Coonrod, Pope, Weaver & Stern,
For undergraduate studies, Tracey attended the University of South Carolina, earning a B.S in 1988 in
Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology. She achieved a master’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1991,
completing all requirements except her thesis. She then attended FSU law school, graduating with
honors in December 1993.
Her practice areas cover workers' compensation defense matters in both State and Federal (Longshore &
DBA) areas. Prior to joining the McConnaughhay firm as a full-time attorney in 1994, Tracey was
Assistant State Attorney for the 14th Judicial Circuit. In 2006, Tracey was Board Certified by the Florida
Bar in the area of Workers' Compensation and has recertified in 2011 and 2016. Her clients include
national insurers, state and local governmental agencies, hospitals, restaurants, hotel chains and a
school district. Her professional activities include: service on the Workers' Compensation Certification
Committee of The Florida Bar from 2008-2014, Chair from 2011-2012; service on the Board of Legal
Specialization and Education (BLSE) from 2014-2017, was named Board Certified Lawyer of the Year in
2017; served on the Executive Council for the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Florida Bar, in the
1st DCA defense seat, for term 2017 – 2020, and served on the Workers’ Compensation Rules Advisory
Committee for term 2017 – 2020, Vice Chair 2018 – 2019, Chair 2019 – 2020. She speaks frequently on
all aspects of workers’ compensation, including ethics, offsets and Medicare set-aside trusts.
